General Labourer (Assembler)

Position Overview                                    

The General Labourer will report directly to the Department Supervisor. The General Labourer will be responsible to follow directions, operate equipment and assemble parts. This position will act in accordance to the Vinylbilt Plant rules and OHSA regulations while ensuring quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow all direction given by Department Supervisor;
  • Work in a fast paced environment understanding the need for urgency to assist in meeting production schedules;
  • Understand requirements of position and product;
  • Ensure proper utility of tools in area in accordance with health and safety standards and functionality;
  • Use tools in an effective and timely manner to assist in production count;
  • Maintain clean and safe working environment;
  • Self inspect material, parts and final product to ensure compliance with Company quality standards;
  • Move material and finished product within Plant when directed;
  • Actively participate as a member of group, assisting your team members in completion of departmental production schedules;
  • Communicate with team members, Lead Hand and Supervisor any improvements, ideas and suggestions;
  • Work in accordance to Health and Safety policies and Vinylbilt Plant policies;
  • Other duties as required.


  • Previous experience working in a Window Manufacturing industry or Manufacturing Assembly industry is an asset;
  • Satisfactory work record, including attendance and code of conduct;
  • Demonstrate ability to assemble parts effectively and efficiently on line meeting production deadlines;
  • Demonstrate ability to perform to the quality standard and fast production pace;
  • Ability to identify issues with product on line, troubleshoot effectively and escalate when required;
  • Ability to follow instructions;
  • Ability to use tools (ie., tape measure, hammer, etc.);
  • Good communication skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate with coworkers, Lead Hands and Supervisor;
  • Demonstrate ability to work as a part of a team in a positive manner;
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs;
  • Ability to push, pull, reach, grip, bend, stand and walk for long periods of time;
  • Able and willing to work overtime when required;
  • Understanding of OHSA regulations and active participant in health and safety.
